The decision to undergo a facelift is a difficult one for patients in Los Angeles and elsewhere, and we know it’s not a choice you make lightly. Dr. Martin O’Toole has years of experience performing facelifts and countless other cosmetic procedures, and he understands that many patients have questions about the entire process. Many of the facelift questions we receive deal with the recovery process. “How long do I have to rest after a facelift? How long until I can go back to work? Will there be pain?” These are understandable questions. Here’s just a little bit of information about the recovery process after your facelift.
Back In The Saddle
Every patient is unique, and every patient has unique needs. Your exact recovery process will not be exactly like any other patient’s. Before your face lift, Dr. O’Toole will walk you through exactly what you will need to do after the procedure to ease recovery. There are some general rules, however.
First, there is likely to be some moderate discomfort immediately after the surgery. It is probably short-lived, and Dr. O’Toole can prescribe pain medication to ease your discomfort. Some bruising or swelling may persist for a couple of weeks after your face lift. Keep your head elevated to minimize this.
You should usually rest for a day or two after your facelift. After that, you can be up and about. However, you should plan to take approximately one week off work to ensure a quick, smooth healing process.
Dr. O’Toole will monitor your recovery process after your facelift to make sure everything is going according to plan.
