Los Angeles breast surgeon Dr. Martin O’Toole offers both saline and silicone breast implants. Which type of breast implant is right for your procedure will be dependent on a number of factors unique to your anatomy and desires. Dr. O’Toole will discuss this with you in greater detail during your Los Angeles breast augmentation consultation.
Saline Breast Implants
Saline breast implants are filled after they have been placed. This may allow for a smaller incision, reducing risks of visible scarring. However, saline breast implants tend to look and feel less natural than silicone and are more prone to cosmetic imperfections such as rippling, wrinkling, and double bubble.
Saline implants are the only type of implant available to women under the age of 22.
Silicone Implants
Silicone implants tend to look and feel like natural breast tissue. Due to the viscosity of these implants, they are also less likely to ripple or wrinkle, allowing them to produce stunning results even when placed above the muscles in the chest.
Silicone implants require a slightly larger incision and are not available to women under the age of 22. However, Dr. O’Toole has found they are ideal for a majority of our patients.
Dr. O’Toole is a board-certified breast surgeon serving Los Angeles and surrounding areas of California. During your breast enhancement consultation he will discuss your options, listen to your desires, and help you choose which type of implant is right for you.
