The Smartlipo® device uses a small tube (called a cannula) with an attached laser tip. It is inserted through a small incision under the skin. Your surgeon will use concentrated laser energy (aimed into the unwanted fat) to heat and rupture the fat cells. This kills them permanently.
The dead fat cells are then suctioned out, along with a majority of the fat they contained. Your body will flush out the remaining melted fat over the next few weeks.
