For many people with dark circles beneath the eyes, it’s just a matter of getting more sleep. But for some, especially those with a tear trough deformity, the dark circles are actually a reflection of a narrow channel or furrow that developed beneath the lower eyelid. A new type of scalpel actually heals as it cuts. Called the UltraCision harmonic scalpel, it’s been used for a long time in chest surgery. It’s fairly new to plastic surgery, however, but I like it because it’s gentler to the tissues, giving my patients a more rapid recovery. I especially like it in tummy tucks and face lift procedures.
