You’ve undoubtedly heard of laser skin resurfacing. Although it sounds new, in fact, the original and “the gold standard” is the CO2 laser for skin resurfacing, which was invented in 1964 by Dr. Kumar Patel. Dr. Patel isn’t a physician.

On November 21, at the 11th hour, a cosmetic surgery tax provision was slipped in the Senate Health Reform bill and at 8:00 p.m. by a vote of 60-39, the Senate approved a motion to proceed to consideration of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. It is expected that the debate on the Senate floor will last a minimum of two weeks and potentially up to Christmas and beyond. Should the Senate pass this bill, they will then have to reconcile their version of health reform with the bill passed by the House of Representatives earlier in the month.
