Rhinoplasty is both a medical reconstructive and cosmetic procedure. According to The Orange County Register Alexis Bellino of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” had a nose job in October. She says people are starting to notice that there’s “something” new about her, though they’re not always sure exactly what it is. According to the surgeon who performed her procedure the surgery was reconstructive as well as cosmetic in nature. According to Alexis she had problems for years with sinus and breathing problems. As most of us know, it is not uncommon for people especially quasi-celebrities to claim sinus trouble when choosing rhinoplasty. According to the surgeon there was needed work to reconstruct the nasal passages internally and improve the patient’s breathing. The surgeon also claims to have improved the tip of the nose and shape of the nose. Alexis admits to having worked for the surgeon previously and therefore admits to having breast implants, lip injections, and Botox. According to Alexis’s account the recovery took longer than her other cosmetic procedures and she infers that it was due to a medical nature of the procedure. The reality is rhinoplasty procedures generally take longer to heal then cosmetic surgeries whether they are reconstructive or cosmetic. Typically, the rhinoplasty procedure recovery is not stable until about one year. Dr. O’Toole encourages his patients to be patient with the recovery process and realize that the changes that they will see over a year will be gradual. In general rhinoplasty has a high re-operation rate. This is not the case for Dr. O’Toole and his patients. Dr. O’Toole prides himself in effective communication with his patients helping them to understand the benefits and limitations of the procedure and how to create realistic expectations .Patients are examined and if a complex rhinoplasty is what is needed, it could include a septoplasty combined with rhinoplasty, Dr. O’Toole is able to recommend the best course of treatment. As an experienced ASPS board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. O’Toole is able to perform both complex and cosmetic rhinoplasty expertly. In some cases Dr. O’Toole may recommend a chin augmentation in combination with the rhinoplasty to achieve better facial symmetry and a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. Either way, patients are in excellent hands choosing the skills of Dr. O’Toole.
