After any surgical procedure, including liposuction, you will feel sore. The intensity of your soreness depends on:
- The extent of your procedure
- The location of the treatment area
- Your unique response and tolerance of your recovery
You can expect to feel the sorest in the first two to three days after liposuction. During this time, you may want to be absent from work and social engagements. Some degree of soreness can persist for one to two weeks, at which point you may be able to return to normal physical activity.
Because the soreness will be most intense in the first few days after your procedure, we will talk to you about which pain medications are appropriate for relieving your pain.
With Smartlipo®, the recovery from liposuction is faster. This less invasive, more efficient fat removal system creates a minimal amount of bruising and swelling, but you should still expect some swelling after your procedure.
Liposuction allows you to achieve dramatic body contouring results without extensive downtime. You should be able to return to your normal work duties and other activities within just a couple of days.
