We have all heard the old saying something is better than nothing. This appears to be true when referring to exercise programs. Dr. O’Toole explains to his body contouring patients whether they have had traditional liposuction,Smart Lipo, or abdominoplasty, regular exercise and a proper diet will be an important part of maintaining great results. Although fat has been removed there are still remaining fat cells that can be overpowered and the patient will gain weight. This does not mean that the liposuction procedure did not work. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure nor does it prevent weight gain. Daily exercise is recommended for adults. According to The Los Angeles Times people who do even a little regular exercise may have lower risk of heart disease than people who never leave the sofa.Researchers did a meta-analysis of 33 studies looking at the effects of exercise on coronary heart disease among people who were active or sedentary to see if they could quantify how much exercise was needed to show any benefits. The 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, which recommend a minimum of 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise for health benefits, were used as a measure. But people who did less than the recommended 150 minutes per week also had lowered risk of heart disease compared with their sedentary counterparts.
