Bandages will be applied after your procedure to help with your recovery. You will experience some swelling, bruising, and soreness in the surgical area; however, these side effects will dissipate over the next few weeks as your body heals. Most patients return to work after five to seven days. Light exercise can be resumed after a week, though you should wait two to three weeks (or until cleared by Dr. O’Toole) to engage in any strenuous activity.

Due to the placement of the incisions (inside the mouth or under the chin), there will be little to no visible scarring, and what scars do result from the procedure will become less visible over time.
